This is the single most important thing that you can do for your health. If you enjoy your food, there is no deprivation and eating healthy can be simple and a lifelong journey.
The picture above is what my smoothie looked like this morning. It is not the first time that it look a bit unappealing. It usually tastes pretty good, regardless of the colour. However this morning I really couldn’t take it. It is 4pm and the green sludge is still in the jar that I prepared at 8am this morning. I have a smoothie cleasne going on right now and one of the first things that I tell the participants is to enjoy your smoothies. Especially when experimenting with green ones.
If you are new to green smoothies or you are feeding them to your kids, be kind. Don’t force a super green concoction on a newbie or your child just because you think it is supposed to be good for you or your family. Everyone’s tastes are different. Start simply. Not too much fruit, a small handful of leafy greens and your favourite protein. Add some liquid and a bit of sweetener if necessary. Make it taste good and it will be easy to incorporate on a daily basis. And over time you will find that your body will naturally evolve to include more greens and other more complicated add-ins.
So back to my green sludge. I decided to take my own advice. I realized that I was about to drink something that I was really not going to enjoy. So I started again with a favourite combination and will feed this one to the garden. If I had a dog, it would have gone in its bowl.
Enjoy what you eat, be kind to yourself and remember that we are all different in so many ways. Respect your differences and start where you are at! Green smoothies rock! Just make them rock for you.
