Today I had the pleasure of leading a group of middle school kids through an awesome Green Smoothie workshop at The Exchange in Caledon. I chose three of my favourite kid-friendly smoothies for them to prepare and taste test. And to my delight they all tried the smoothies we made!! Yeah! At first I wasn’t sure that they would. I commended them all on at least trying them. Kids are much more likely to eat what they prepare. You have probably heard this before but it is so true ~ get your kids in the kitchen!
After we tasted each of the smoothies, the kids filled out a survey and graded them from A+ down to D. I was clear that I wanted honest results, and I didn’t care if they liked the smoothies or not. Everyone’s tastes are different and it is okay to not like something that someone else loves. They loved making the smoothies as well as operating my high-powered blender. And, surprise, surprise, they all liked the smoothie that they were part of making.
I am so glad I did this workshop. Initially, I had doubts about whether or not they would like my Green Smoothies. It just goes to show you that Green Smoothies are so versatile and can be enjoyed by young and old alike. The recipes we made today are all in my Green Smoothie eBook that is available for download.
Tips for parents:
If you want your kids to drink Green Smoothies, make sure you make them so that they taste great for your child. Remember that everyone’s tastes are different, and just because you like it, doesn’t mean that they will too. So if your smoothie creation is not a winner, get your child to help out and try, try again.
